Do you know which brand of car is the least reliable? Study reveals ranking of cars with fewer breakdowns

Tesla is the least reliable car brand in terms of breakdown rates for many of the 52,430 European drivers who gave their opinion in a survey conducted by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU). The study, carried out jointly with four other European associations from Belgium, France, Italy and Portugal, classified 36 manufacturers that operate (or already operate) on the European continent, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported on Tuesday.

The company founded by Elon Musk came in last place with a score of 60 out of a possible 100. Tesla is followed by Alfa Romeo and Land Rover with 64 points respectively; Jaguar closes the top four with 68 points.

The list, compiled by consumer organizations, collected the opinion of European drivers about their cars and ranked the most reliable brands and models, that is, those with the fewest breakdowns, excluding those resulting from an accident.

Good reliability results again went to Japanese and Korean manufacturers, who occupy seven positions out of the top ten, led by Lexus (95), Subaru (93) and Toyota (91). Among European manufacturers, Seat and Dacia stand out with 85 points and Skoda with 84 points.

By engine type, the models with the fewest breakdowns are cars without a plug-in. In fact, there are even ten models above a reliability score of 95 out of 100. Gas engines (LPG or CNG), like electric ones, still do not have such a wide range of trouble-free vehicles, the report says. .

However, the most reliable model among the 523 vehicle versions included in the study is the diesel: Volkswagen T-Roc 1.6 diesel (2017 version). Two hybrids follow, such as the Toyota Corolla 2.0 Gasoline (2018 version) and the Lexus IS 2500 (2013 version). The diesel Renault Espace 1.6 (2015 version) and the diesel Opel Astra 1.5 (2015 version) also stand out.

The first Dacia hybrid. “The cheapest hybrid family on the market”

The first Dacia hybrid. "The cheapest hybrid family on the market"

BUT Dacia revealed this Monday that the hybrid engine has been available since March on the Jogger, the Romanian brand’s model known to be available with a seven-seat variant.

The Jogger Hybrid 140, Dacia’s first hybrid, will hit dealerships in March, but customers can expect and order it as early as January.

The price has been revealed by Dacia and since it’s only available in the seven-seater SL Extreme, it starts at €28,800. The brand claims it is “the most affordable hybrid family car on the market.”

Available in six existing colors to celebrate the launch of this hybrid, there will be a slate gray version, as you can see in the images above.

Equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp, the Jogger is also powered by two electric motors (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter-generator). The total power is 140 horsepower. The electric transmission is automatic, four-speed, connected to an internal combustion engine, and two speeds are connected to an electric motor. This combined technology was possible, according to Dacia, only due to the lack of clutch.

Combined with the energy recovery levels of the 1.2kWh (230V) battery pack and the efficiency of the automatic transmission, regenerative braking delivers all-electric traction on 80% of urban journeys and saves up to 40% of fuel compared to a combustion engine vehicle.
