Valorant: Riot shows significant map replay reduction | valiant

In another article in Integrity of Systems of the grade posted on Monday riot game commented on the recent positive impact of the new map selection randomization system on competitive play. This feature, which has been heavily criticized by the community due to map replays, has resulted in a significant reduction in these replays since the 4.04 update, according to the company.

FPS data manager Brian Chang said the changes were made based on community research.

What was the sequence of maps from launch to today?

During the official release of Valorant, the selection of cards was random. At the time, only four scenarios were available in the game: Bind, Haven, Split, and Ascent. Because of this, each card had a 25% chance of being chosen, whether it was already chosen or not.

– When ten players joined the match, the management randomly chose any of the available maps. Everyone had an equal chance (25%) of being selected, regardless of whether the person had played a particular map recently,” Chang said.

“We tried to reduce the number of sequences found, but the choice itself remained a weighted “random” choice. That is, there was less chance that someone would be lucky enough to encounter a sequence of cards, but it was still quite possible to pass it, he explained.

From randomness to deterministic card selection

While the changes had an impact by moving from total randomness to weighted randomness, it still wasn’t enough, as a survey conducted with the North American community found a significant frequency of map repetition.

“In a survey sent out to the North American community around March of this year, 67% of people said they thought they played the same map multiple times in a row “often” or “very often,” Chang said.

Thus, the development team found the need to further improve the card randomization system. During Update 4.04, players in the Latin American region (LATAM) were able to test the change by going from random to deterministic.

With the new data coming in after implementing the new method, Brian says there has been a significant improvement in the selection system. However, he explains that in some cases the cards will be repeated, especially when players remove the queue for certain cards in order to avoid them.

– The percentage of people who played the same map three times in a row decreased to 0.06% (1 for every 1700+ players). In addition, in the week we watched the competitive queue, exactly eight out of several million players ended up on the same map four times in a row. Fun fact: out of eight people, two often get out of line to avoid certain cards (we apologize to the other six for their bad luck). No player has seen the same card five or more times in a row. This was done without compromising wait times and match balance,” he said.

Faced with a more “controllable” situation, the company is now evaluating situations in which it might make sense to have more control over card selection. For example, one such case is in the long-awaited Valorant Tournament mode, which should arrive sometime in the 2022 season.

NASA Lander InSight He has delivered what may be his last message from Mars as he embarks on a historic mission to uncover the secrets of the Red Planet’s interior.

In November, the space agency warned that the probe could be running out of time as dust continued to condense and stifle InSight’s power.

“Spacecraft power generation continues to decline as windblown dust accumulates on solar panels,” NASA said in a statement. Update November 2. “The end is expected to come in the coming weeks.”

message shared NASA The InSight Twitter account tweeted on Monday: “My power is very low so this might be the last photo I can upload. Don’t worry about me: my time here has been productive and uneventful. If I can keep talking to my mission team, I will—but I will.” Subscribe here soon. Thank you for staying with me.”

A geologist robot armed with a hammer and a seismograph first reached the barren expanse of Elysium Planitia in November 2018.

Since then, she has carried out geological excavations, taking the first measurements of earthquakes with a high-tech seismometer placed right on the surface of Mars.

Last month, the solar-powered car released an update to remind us of its time in space.

“I was lucky to live on two planets. Four years ago I made it safely to the second one, much to the joy of my family at first. Thanks to my team for taking me on this journey of discovery. I hope I can be proud of you.”

According to the published mission, Insight has measured more than 1,300 seismic events since it was published, and more than 50 of them had signals clear enough for the team to extract information about their location on Mars. Results.

The probe’s data also provided detailed information about Mars’ interior, liquid core, surprisingly variable remnants beneath the surface of an extinct magnetic field, climate and seismic activity.

old for Its launch in 2018NASA Chief Scientist Jim Green said the mission was “fundamental to understanding the origins of our solar system and how it became what it is today.”

NASA will not declare the mission complete until Insight confirms the arrival of two spacecraft orbiting Mars that are relaying their information back to Earth.

In 2018, the veteran rover announced the capabilities end of his 15 year stay Sending an incomplete photo of the Valley of Perseverance.

A severe dust storm darkened the sky around the solar-powered rover, shattering the sun and leaving behind a dark image with white spots due to camera noise. The transmission is interrupted before the complete image can be transmitted.
