Portuguese Secretary of State announces reinforcements at the consulate in Luanda

FRancisco Andre, who ended a four-day visit to Angola, announced a visit to Luanda in the coming weeks by the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, in charge of consular services, “to implement this resource enhancement.”

The Portuguese official, who summed up his visit to the Portuguese-speaking African country, highlighted the ongoing efforts made by Portugal to solve the problem of mobility between the two countries.

According to Francisco André, since the beginning of this month, when the foreign minister visited Angola “and encountered these difficulties in the visa issuing system at the consulate, the throughput for obtaining visas has also doubled.”

“From July to December 2021, as a result of the changes made to the visa processing operating system, here at the consulate in Luanda, the ability to issue visas increased by about 400% between July and December last year, and I know that this is still not meets all the needs, all the desires and expectations of Angolan citizens who want to travel to Portugal,” said the Portuguese official.

The Portuguese official also stressed that there are also “big efforts” this year, which resulted in “at the beginning of the year it was possible to issue just over 60 visas per day, which has now increased to just over 150 visas today.”

“Between Portugal and Angola and between all CPSG countries [Comunidade de Países de Língua Portuguesa] is the centerpiece of our relationship. The Mobility Agreement signed in Luanda in July 2021 at the CPLP summit, the project proposed by Cape Verde, accepted by all, where Portugal was involved and provided particularly strong and demanding political support, was very important,” he said.

Pedro Proenza chooses 'fighting violence' in football as a priority for the 2022/23 season - Observer
