Portuguese detained in Spain for violating the privacy of 10 women

BUT Palma de Mallorca National Police have arrested a 45-year-old Portuguese citizen who is accused of violating the privacy of at least 10 women with a camera installed in the bathroom.

The alleged perpetrator lives in an apartment in Palma de Mallorca and has sublet two rooms of the house to young women. One of them, according to Spanish press reports, noticed a strange object in the bathroom and questioned the homeowner. It has been claimed to be a Wi-Fi signal repeater.

The woman, unconvinced of her answer, showed the equipment to a tenant in another room, and when they searched the house, they found video footage showing both the use of the bathroom and a third woman who had previously lived in the house.

Two women who rented rooms in the Portuguese house filed a complaint with the police and handed over equipment, namely a video camera and a memory card with images.

Later, during a search, authorities found two more micro cameras, several computers, “flash drives” and other computer equipment.

During their investigation, the National Police found dozens of image files of at least 10 women, some of which date back to 2017. The authorities are currently trying to identify the three remaining victims of the crime.
