Powerful graphics engine Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games

If you have heard about the new Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine, but have not yet fully understood what this tool is capable of, then you are reading the right article.

Quixel, a creative and 3D art product company, recently completed a project called "Ninety days in Unreal Engine 5". Basically, the idea was to invite some artists to create real-time environments over the course of a few days. The project has evolved, and last week the company presented the result of over 40 environments created in Unreal Engine 5 with powerful and incredible video.

According to the company, "The Ninety Days project started with just three main artists and a simple concept: make something beautiful and inspiring, keep it in real time, and if possible create every environment in just three days."A few days later, other artists were invited to the project, even from Epic Games.

To accomplish this work, the artists took advantage of some of Quixel's tools, such as the Megascans library, to create high-quality content in a more efficient and easier way.

Quixel and Epic Games product strategist and lead artist Victor Oman noted that the project is very important in terms of learning, and even said that "I feel like I added more skills and tools to my resume during the Ninenta Diaz project than in the last five years of my career.".

For his part, Alec Tucker, Cinematic Environments Artist also at Quixel and Epic Games, said environment creation was fast and interactive thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and Quixel Megascans assets.

Kerbal Space Program 2 now kicks off in early 2023

The Kerbal 2 space program will remain on earth for some time to come. Developer Star Theory has delayed the release of the game until early 2023.

Creative director Nate Simpson explained on the project’s forums and in a video message that development of the space flight simulator has “enormous technological complexity” and the team needs more time to bring it to perfection. In the video posted below, Simpson clarifies by saying:

“We have also set very high quality standards. the game should [perform] for a wide range of vehicles. Graphics must be second to none. The universe should be rich and interesting to explore. We set ourselves an internal goal – to create an original and breathtaking experience.

Like its well-received predecessor, Kerbal Space Program 2 challenges players to manage a space program run by cute green astronauts to build rockets and other spacecraft for space exploration. The game uses realistic physics to allow players to perform realistic orbital maneuvers used to locate and land on celestial bodies. The sequel was first announced at Gamescom 2019 with a release window in 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed development and forced the team to aim for Fall 2021 to arrive later this year.

Kerbal Space Program 2 is aimed at PC at launch, with console versions coming later in the year.
