Eli Manning will be absent from the Giants for the first time in 16 years

IN New York Giants will be missing an integral part of their franchise when they take to the field at MetLife Stadium to play against Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.

For the first time in more than 16 years, the giants will not have Eli Manning on their list.

Manning retired at the end of the 2019 season, officially opening Daniel Jones era. Jones will start his first week of his career. He replaced Manning before the third week of the regular season. He finished with a 3027 yard pass, 24 touchdown pass and 12 interceptions in 13 games.

Manning, 39, ended his career with 57,023 passing yards, 366 touchdown assists and 4895 assists. In the regular season starting lineup, he finished with a record of 117-117 in 16 years. He also helped the Giants win two Super Bowls – both over the New England Patriots.

Following the retirement announcement, the Giants issued a statement welcoming Manning for his contributions to the organization and highlighting his two Super Bowl MVPs.

“For 16 seasons, Eli Manning has defined what it means to be a New York giant both on and off the pitch,” John Mara, president and CEO of the Giants, said in a January statement.
