Jacob DeGrom appeared dominant during the Mets game simulation

Jacob deGrom still has a few more weeks until Braves invade Citi Field, but it seems he doesn’t need too much time to get ready for defending champion NL East.

NL Young Award winner Cy Young was impressive on Sunday, giving two closing stages in the simulation game as the Mets began to improve training for the 60-game MLB short-game short-season.

Facing the daily Mets lineup, deGrom can be predicted in front of the hitters. He initiated a weak contact, struck three and did not penalize for two innings in which he threw 34 throws.

Three-month layoffs due to the coronavirus pandemic and new labor disputes do not seem to have much impact on 32-year-old right-handed players who play right-handed.

“Watching Jake stroll, he [looked to be in] “mid-season form and some players get a taste of Jake in midseason form, so it was good to see the fight, the players tasted good fastball immediately after shooting,” manager Luis Rojas said on Zoom’s call as spring training 2.0 continued at Citi Field.

When facing nine hitters on two innings, deGrom only allowed singles for Dom Smith and Yoenis Cespedes. He fanned newcomer Jake Marisnick to start an excursion and then attack Pete Alonso and Rene Rivera. DeGrom twice retired Michael Conforto, making him with a shallow flying ball to the left field and ground out to stop to end his afternoon.

“I think Jake matches too many people outside the gate. The goods are very impressive, “Rojas said. “We can get some reading behind the home plate there.”

Rojas said Sunday’s simulation game was more important for pitchers, because there was only so much for them to get ready for the season, scheduled to start July 24 against Braves in Queens, The Post reported Mike Puma.

This is the key for the pitcher to build up arm strength and feel comfortable against a living hitter and in that tone, Sunday is a success, especially because the Mets best thrower looks like his dominant self.

“I’m glad we get a competitive vibe out there,” Rojas said. “Some people did play ball against Jake in the first inning, but this is more for the pitchers – hitters get their time, track – but it’s about pitchers.”

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
