Fairfax police officer, Tyler Timberlake faces three different charges for assault and battery for an incident involving tasing and the arrest of a black man.

Body camera footage released by the department shows officers violating the use of troop policy, authorities said Saturday.

Timberlake, an eight-year veteran troop, faces a 36-month prison sentence, Steve T. Descano, Fairfax County Commonwealth District Attorney.

The unidentified victim in the video was treated at a local hospital and released, said Fairfax County Police Chief Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr., adding that he personally reached out to the victim and her mother to “express [his] disgusted with [his] officers who are unacceptable criminal actions and ensure their justice will be served. “

Roessler said Timberlake was freed from his duties and law enforcement authorities in accordance with Fairfax County personnel regulations. Other officers at the scene have all been freed from duty while awaiting the results of criminal and administrative investigations, according to Roessler.

CNN’s efforts to reach Timberlake were not immediately successful.

Descano called the body’s video camera “unsettling. “I want our community to know that we are pursuing accusations that are in harmony with current law, and supported by evidence with which we have been presented,” he said.

The body camera video was released by Chief Roessler, who said the video showed Officer Timberlake committing “criminal acts, which violated our oath of office, and they ignored the sanctity of human life. The video also erodes public confidence in police officers, not only in Fairfax County, but in this whole world. “

Roessler also said that in addition to criminal investigations, he had launched an administrative inquiry and the use of force of officers would be subject to independent review by the Fairfax District police auditor.
