Live-streamed man distributes explosives

An Illinois man living streamed himself distributing explosives and destroying property – shouting at one point, “we have come to a riot, boy” in Minneapolis protesting the death of George Floyd, officials said.

Matthew Lee Rupert, 28, faces many charges including civil disruption, possession of unregistered explosives and participating in and organizing riots in the Twin Cities, according to court documents filed in federal court.

In a video posted on Facebook, Rupert showed himself handing over explosives to others last week and encouraged them to throw them at law enforcement, according to the FBI’s written statement.

“I have a few bombs if some of you all want to throw them back,” he said as he distributed items with a brown sheath and green axis.

Shortly after someone throws the device, an explosion can be heard in the background, officials said.

Footage also shows he appeared to light the Sprint shop on fire – before then entering and stealing from the Depot Office, according to a written statement.

“We have come to riot, boy! This is what we came for! “Rupert can be heard saying in the video.

He later shared on Facebook on Saturday that he was heading to Chicago to “loot” there, the statement said.

Ahead of Sunday morning, he posted more videos about himself in and around the City of Windy, where he talked about starting a “riot,” officials said.

Rupert was arrested the same morning for violating an emergency curfew in the city, officials said.

During his arrest, officers found several destructive devices, a hammer, a heavy duty flashlight and cash in his vehicle, officials said.

Rupert appeared Monday for a hearing in federal court in Chicago, where a judge ordered him to be moved to Minnesota to face charges, according to the Star Tribune.
