Justin Thomas is one of the best golfers in the world, but on Sunday during “The Match: Champions for Charity” he will become a course reporter because his friends Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning compete with Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady.
While the whole event is for good cause – raising $ 10 million or more for COVID-19 assistance – hitting conversations must be fun to eavesdrop and Thomas says when winning time the juice will flow.
“When people get 9, when they get the last four or five holes, it will be competitive,” Thomas told The Post. “Especially Peyton and Tom – they want to destroy each other. Phil and Tiger, no matter what they say, they want to destroy each other. Such is the case. “
Thomas spent two years as a communications major in Alabama with the design of being a golf analyst, and he might have some skills.
“They will probably make it a little lighter than that and that’s a different scenario than the AFC Championship game for Peyton and Tom or Masters for Tiger and Phil, but, in the end, they get the right to brag and they want to have it. “Thomas said.
The audience-free broadcast of the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, will be on Sunday at 3 pm. on TNT, TBS, TruTV and HLN. This follows the NBC golf event last week.
Phil MickelsonUPI
Charles Barkley and Justin Immelman will join host Brian Anderson, while Thomas will work with Amanda Balionis. There will be celebrity guests, like Samuel L. Jackson.
While the Woods-Mickelson match in November 2018 is based on pay-per-view, including snafu B / R Live payment transactions that make it free for all, this edition adds two quarterbacking legends and is on cable and online.
Thomas is very close to Woods, Mickelson and Brady. He knows Manning too. According to him the conversation must be epic.
“Once you make Tom a little, he will keep doing it,” Thomas said. “He is someone the more you give him the more he will open back to you.
“Tiger is not someone who is often glorified. Phil will probably talk more. But Tiger is somewhat more of a zinger type. He may not say much, but whatever he says may hurt and go deeper. I know Peyton at least four, but I know him well enough. He is very smart. He will definitely have a lot to say and he will definitely remind Tom of the last few matches [they] contradictory. “
Brady, 42, and Thomas, 27, vacation together. When Thomas injured his wrist, Brady offered TB12 coach, Alex Guerrero, to be rehabilitated.
“We only have a few friends together,” Thomas said. “We have done several golf trips together. He spent a lot of time here in Florida together.
“I don’t know if anyone knows that he reached out to me to see his coach at Alex and I went to Boston and spent time with him. We were friends before that, but for me it was so cool that he took the time and wanted to see me get better and going out of the way to make sure that happens. We spend a lot of time looking after each other and playing golf, of course. “
Sunday on the fifth hole the players will only use one club. On holes No. 8 and 16, a $ 25 million contribution will be added if a player hits the hole-in-one. On holes No. 4 and 12, donations of up to $ 1 million can be made depending on how close the players are to the hole.
In hole No. 3 and 15, there will be the longest drive competition. Thomas knew the way well, because he and Woods often played it in what was basically a Woods home course.
And who did Thomas take?
“I gave Tiger and Peyton an edge,” said Thomas. “Tiger knows that place like the back of his hand. He has to drive it well. With Phil, if he drives well, with his iron game around the green, I’ll give them an advantage.
“I don’t know Peyton’s game well enough to honestly say this versus Tom so it can be a big factor. Tom has a lot of firepower. He might make two, three, four birdies, but he might come out of three or four holes. It is a good thing to have as a partner if he can make more birdies, but I just have to give Tiger an edge because of the number of times he plays there. “

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.
According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”
In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.
The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.
In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.
From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.
Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.
“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
