The Afghan footballer died on Monday after falling from an American plane taking off from Kabul. 19-year-old Zaki Anwari was one of thousands of people who tried to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban and assigned outside of the United States Air Force Boeing C-17, which was already carrying 640 Afghans in the cabin.
Zaki Anwari’s death was announced on Thursday by Ariana News Agency and confirmed by the Afghanistan General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports. The 19-year-old represented the country on the youth team that confirmed the athlete’s death on Facebook: “After the Taliban take over Kabul, to travel to America and find a better future, walked on top of an American plane with several other compatriots who fell to the ground Bye [o aparelho] flew. They are martyrs. “
The circumstances of the footballer’s death have yet to be clarified. Some reports suggest that Zaki Anwari fell from the plane after takeoff, losing his life in the crash, but journalist Babak Tagwai tweeted that the corpse of a young athlete was found in the carriage of a Boeing C-17 when he landed in Qatar.

In a recent public post on his Facebook wall on June 29, Zaki Anwari shared a photo of him wearing a suit, tie, and watch: “You are the artist of your life. In another photo taken on the lawn, Zaki Anwari shared, “Football is my love.”
Several Afghans died while trying to leave Kabul aboard an Air Force plane, fell during takeoff, or took refuge in unsafe areas outside the plane. The US authorities confirmed these events, adding that the plane had to make an emergency stop in Qatar after the discovery of technical problems associated with the presence of human remains in the chassis.
