The Wolverhampton player recalled a brutal head-to-head battle with David Louis in November 2020.

In an interview with British journalists, Raul Jimenez spoke about his return to the field after a serious injury he received on November 29, 2020. At the time, a goal clash with David Louis in the match between Wolverhampton and Arsenal left him in very poor shape.

“The doctors told me that I was a miracle alive. The bone broke and my brain was bleeding. That’s why I had to quickly operate on me and they did a great job. The skull fracture took a little longer. to cure, but it’s really a miracle that I’m talking to you here, ”the 30-year-old striker began with an explanation.

The possibility of not playing again was very real, but the former Benfica player never stopped believing in continuity.

“I never thought about retirement. This chance was real, but I was always confident in coming back, ”he said.

Raul Jimenez also said that Petr Cech was very helpful in dealing with what happened as he had a similar injury.

“I was in contact with Petr Cech, he sent me messages and supported me. One day when the team went to play in London, he went to the hotel with the doctor and brought one of his helmets to see if he could do something like that, ”he said.

Now the Mexican player is back, but he will have to wear head protection for the rest of his career.

“Of course, if it was up to me, I would rather not use it, but the doctors say it’s for my protection, that it can prevent something serious,” he finished.
